History of floss/Glide
In 1818, Levi Spear Parmly, a dental professor in Philadelphia, first recommended a waxed silken thread to get out particles in between teeth. It wasn't until 1882 that commercial dental floss was manufactured.
Glide Dental Floss was launched nationally in the spring of 1992 by W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. Crest acquired this line of dental floss in October, 2003. For more information on the history of dental floss, try visiting this web site: http://floss.com/origins_of_tootpaste_and_floss.htm
